The Italian National team is now part of the history of Cornacchia World Cup.
11 World Champions have played the Cornacchia World Cup, showing themselves in Pordenone during the years to finally compose the legendary team that just achieved the biggest success of the planet. We already talked about some of the protagonists for the last European Championship, but let’s find out who can claim to be the best in the world from our tournament.
The Best Players in the World Have Been in Pordenone
Of course we must start from the MVP of the World Championship: Simone Giannelli. At Cornacchia World Cup he won the tournament and the best setter award in 2012
National Teams and Superlega Clubs
The Italian National team have taken part to our event also with Francesco Recine and Daniele Lavia in 2015, Leandro Mosca in 2019 (winner and best middle hitter) as well as Riccardo Sbertoli in 2014. Riccardo played at the 2017 edition with Volley Segrate 1978 too.
Also many Superlega clubs have joined the tournament and this added many talents to the competition.
Trentino Volley for example brought Alessandro Michieletto in 2019, Pallavolo Padova Leonardo Scanferla in 2017 (best libero) and Mattia Bottolo in 2018, Pallavolo Modena Giulio Pinali in 2016 and Sisley Treviso Simone Anzani in 2009.
All these World Champions have played the Cornacchia World Cup.
The Best Teams from all Around the World
We are proud to have hosted in Pordenone teams from every continent. This gives the opportunity to our National team and many Superlega clubs, to challenge their players with many different volleyball cultures. We like to think that we have done our very little part in this success. We have no words to congratulate enough with all of you guys and you’ll be always welcome in Pordenone.
