We do not know how the “little” Marco Polo felt when he arrived in China in front of the Great Khan Kubilai, but we do know the great emotions we felt on 14 July 2019 at Palazzo Chigi in Rome, when we signed a collaboration agreement with the Chinese city of Tianjin.
This 2019 led us of Polisportiva San Giorgio Porcia, organizers of Cornacchia World Cup, to officially confirm a long list of activities to do with Tianjin, that will bring many Chinese groups in Pordenone and Italy.

Porcia, exclusive partner of every volleyball activity to be done in Italy by Tianjin

Porcia, a town with 16.000 inhabitants, with our volleyball Club playing in the regional Serie C championship, chosen to be the exclusive partner of every volleyball activity to be done in Italy by Tianjin, a Chinese city of 16 million citizens, with a team that contains some of the most important volleyball players in the world, winner of many Chinese championships.
We are honestly very proud of this “disproportions”, because this results happened for some reasons.

Porcia and Tianjin, friends since the participation of Chinese teams to Cornacchia World Cup

It is true that we had been in contact with the leaders of the Chinese city for some time, but it seemed more like a dream than a real possibility.
The friendship between Porcia and Tianjin was born thanks to the participation of Chinese teams to our international youth volley tournament Cornacchia World Cup, our most popular international event.
Tianjin appreciated the organization of the tournament. This was the first step to create trust and respect, which led the political leaders of the city to turn to us to sign one of the agreements provided for by the international treaty called “New Silky Way “and strongly supported by the Italian Vice President Luigi Di Maio and the Secretary of the Communist Party Li Hongzhong (de facto Deputy Prime Minister).

Stefano Cornacchia was hosted as VIP guest in China at the World Cup for Clubs

At the end of the summer we also hosted the first team of Tianjin, which prepared the participation in the World Championship for Clubs, which would take place in China in December 2019, won by Imoco Volley Conegliano.
It was in this occasion that one of our managers, Stefano Cornacchia, was hosted as VIP guest in China, upon special invitation. and he was welcomed with full honors by the local authorities, including the Mayor of Tianjin.

The agreement will last for 3 years

The agreement drawn up, lasting three years, includes the participation of Tianjin youth teams to Cornacchia World Cup tournaments and to other events, such as the “Winter Cup”, summer camps, training sessions, language corses with sport activities, and qualification for athletes and coaches.
China becomes a little closer and in the future we will be able to fully draw on this great opportunity for sharing, knowledge and growth, which will be able to further strengthen our friendly relations.
After all, sport is also this.
