REGULATION Cornacchia World Cup

1. Organization

Polisportiva San Giorgio Porcia organizes the volleyball tournament Cornacchia World Cup #44, in accordance with applicable sections of FIVB and FIPAV rules.

The event will be held in Pordenone on April 3rd-6th 2026 to commemorate the figure of Ferruccio Cornacchia, founder of the before-mentioned sports club.

2. Category of Participation and Age Limits

  • B19 (boys born from 1st January 2007)
  • G19 (girls born from 1st January 2007)
  • B17 (boys born from 1st January 2009)
  • G17 (girls born from 1st January 2009)

3. Loans

It’s allowed to take players on loan, upon submission of the legitimate authorization issued by the owning sport club, which cannot be one of the teams participating in the tournament.

4. Players List

4.1 Tournament list
Before the start of the tournament, the participating team must submit to the organization the list of athletes they intend to use, with at least 12 players, up to a maximum of 15.

Only 14 players can play at each match, following the second Libero rule at point 4.2.

After their submission, it’s forbidden to make changes to the tournament list.

Players will then be identified by the referees, with a personal ID card or the volleyball Federation’s card.

4.2 Second Libero
If a team wants to use more than 12 players in a match, two of them must be Libero.

It’s allowed:
12 + 2
11 + 2
(6-10) + 2
(6-11) + 1
(6-12) + 0

It’s not allowed:
12 + 1

5. Tournament Formula

The group stage is made by four round-robin groups with 4 teams each.

The first 2 teams in ranking will go to the quarter-finals gold.
The 3rd will go to the quarte-finals silver.
The 4th will go to the quarte-finals bronze.

Winners of the quarter-finals will reach the semifinals and then the final.

6. Net Height

Boys: 2,43 meters
Girls: 2,24 meters

7. Ranking

The group stage follows this ranking guide (1 point per set):

  • 3 points for a 3 – 0 win
  • 2 points for a 2 – 1 win
  • 1 point for a 1 – 2 defeat


In case of a tie, the priority will be given as follow:

  1. Direct matches results
  2. Set difference
  3. Points difference

8. Matches

Matches will be played as follow: 

  • 2 out of 3 sets for the group stage, with 25 points per set. Two points advantage are always required;
  • 3 out of 5 sets for the final stage, with 25 points per set apart from the tie break when needed at 15 points. Two points advantage are always required;


There will never be a court change.

9. Time Out

Two discretionary time outs are granted to each team in each set.

10. Tournament Regulation

The tournament regulation will be entrusted to the sports judge in the person of the event supervisor.

11. Automatism of Sanctions

International rules apply.

12. Claims

All claims must be submitted before the end of the match, together with the 100 € fee; a copy of the complaint must be provided to the counterpart at the end of the match.

13. Executive commision

14. General Rules

For matters not covered by these regulations, the norms of the Federal regulations apply, as they are compatible. The tournament will be played in accordance with the latest edition of the rules articulated by the International Volleyball Federation (F.I.V.B.).

15. Rererees

Matches will be refereed by official members of FIPAV.
Matches reports and player’s lists will be sent to the committee in charge in time for the supervision of the sport judge.

16. Insurance

16.1 Coverage
It’s up to every participating team to assure their players with an insurance coverage. The tournament organization could check the regularity of this coverage.

16.2 Responsibility
By registering to participate in Cornacchia World Cup, the team manager in charge must have the necessary authority and permission from the participants, the participants’ guardians and the registered association. Participation in the tournament is at the participants’ own risk and the team manager in charge is responsible for all participants whom the team manager has registered, which should be included in the list of participants.

The team manager in charge is obligated to ensure that all participants are insured on the pitch. Each participant is responsible for his/her personal insurance off the court. Participants from Countries that have no medical insurance agreement with Italy must have personal medical insurance. Neither Cornacchia World Cup nor the organizer has collective insurance to cover injuries, illness, theft or damages.

Neither Cornacchia World Cup nor the organizer is responsible for compensation and they are also not responsible for financial losses or damages that may occur due to events outside the control of Cornacchia World Cup or the organizer, such as war-like events, fire, flood, interruptions in public transport connections, government actions, strike or other similar circumstances.

17. Behaviour in the Hotel

The team manager, as indicated on the tournament’s list, is responsible for any damage caused by their players.

A credit card and a deposit might be asked at the check-in, to be used in case of damages, extra services or consumptions.

Silence is prescribed in each hotel between 10 p.m. – 6 a.m.

18. Cancellation Policy

18.1 Group cancellation
The registration fee is not refundable.
The deposit is 50% refundable only for those who cancel at least 4 months in advance.
The final payment (to be done 2 months before the arrival) is not refundable.
So if the team doesn’t arrive to Pordenone for any reason (flight cancellation, broken bus, etc.), there will be no be refunds.

18.2 Individual cancellations
Single cancellations (sick player, last minute injuries, etc.) can be refunded in cash upon arrival as follows:
– 100% refund if we will be informed at least 1 week before the arrival;
– 50% refund if we will be informed at least 72 hours before the arrival;
– no refunds for cancellations made less then 72 hours before the arrival;
