Cornacchia World Cup is the largest and most prestigious U19 volleyball tournament in Europe, attended by an extraordinary amount of National selections and top teams.
It takes place in Pordenone (Italy) from 1983 and that makes it one of the oldest volleyball tournaments in the world.

This tournament is dedicated to Ferruccio Cornacchia, a real man of sport.
He founded Real Sant’Antonio sporting club in Porcia, at the end of the sixties.
He’s been involved in the first commitee of Centro Sportivo Italiano in Pordenone, as secretair, since it’s beginning.
After that, he became secretair of the new born Pordenone’s commitee of the Italian Volleyball Federation.
His authentic passion for sport led him to found Polisportiva San Giorgio of Porcia in 1975, starting from the volleyball teams.

Ferruccio passed away the 7th of December 1982, while taking part at a meeting of Centro Sportivo Italiano in Rome.
During his short life, in a period featured by poverty and strong economical differences, he saved hundreds of teenagers from the street, encouraging their passion for sport and life.

The tournament was created by Tiziano Cornacchia in 1983. His sons Stefano and Matteo contribute to the organization of the events, which have always been managed with the support of the whole family, who grew up in the memory of “grandpa Ferruccio”.

In over 35 years the Cornacchia tournament has hosted the most important Italian volleyball clubs and hundreds of foreign groups. It is constantly reconfirmed as one of the most respected and esteemed events in Europe, thanks to the almost exclusive participation of National teams and top clubs from 5 continents.

Pordenone is a medieval town located a few km from Venice, and it is here that many teams from all the world are hosted every year, even from Argentina, China, United States, Chile and Australia. In Pordenone they can all enjoy the beauty and the cuisine of Friuli and Italy.

  • Dear Cornacchia World Cup, Thanks to the organization and all the collaboration for letting us live such a wonderful experience. It was an amazing event, that unfortunately I had personally the chance to live for just a couple of days, but all the staff and our guys were simply excited. The technical level of the tournament, the hospitality and the great professionality that we have seen, were absolutely unique in the wide opportunities of youth events that our sport can offer. To had the chance to play with the best volleyball of Europe and all the world, was an unique opportunity for our guys. Also, for all of us the final will be unforgettable, indescribable memories. Thanks from my heart for all!!!

  • To Cornacchia World Cup, I want to extend OUR gratitude for what you let us feel. During my years spent in volleyball, both male and female (40) I guarantee to have never participate to such a professional tournament in his completeness, for the level of the game (extremely high), organization (perfection doesn’t exists but believe me, you are really close to it) and an hospitality really professional and competent (about this I ask you to say again THANKS from Liu Jo club to the hotel manager). COMPLIMENTS again for all and especially to gave us this opportunity also if the groups were already scheduled, SURELY until I’ll be manager of this team, LIU JO will always attend your tournament and I’ll try to bring the full team as this TOURNAMENT deserves.
